Response to JDBGMGR.EXE hoax

Every once in a while I receive forwarded hoax e-mails. This hoax can be rooted out by educating gullible computer-phobic computer users. Here is a letter you can reply with:
--------------------------------------
This 'virus' is what is called a "social engineering virus". Actually, there is no virus, but the sender persuades the recipients to perform an action (e.g. delete legitimate files from their computers). If you get similar e-mails in the future, there is really no need to forward them. More about this HOAX can be found at:

http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/jdbgmgr.exe.file.hoax.html

Also, if you send e-mails such as these, please put all the recipients into BCC: field, instead of TO: field. BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) means that recipients will not see each other's e-mail addresses. For instance, I have never heard of Tanja Luburic and Tuuli Maria Riihinen, but I now have their e-mail addresses. That is not good because:
- If my computer gets a virus, it will be spread to these persons
- If this e-mail reaches a telemarketer, all these persons will receive SPAM.

Yours truly,
...
